Positive Parenting Videos

This is a video series following Kun, their parent, and their interaction. Each story follows by a chit-chat among friends to share their perspectives as mothers and their expertise in the psychological, social work, and child protection profession. The discussion articulates the positive parenting concept into real-life examples and practices.

RoCK researches (Opinion, Behavior and Attitude, 2015 & Family Violence Against LBT People:“I married a man to satisfy my parents”2019) has found that members of the LGBT community experienced discrimination and rejection in both the society and family. Only 19% of around 400 respondents came out to their families. The 2019 study has confirmed the experiences of young LBT who have faced violence in all forms including physical, emotional, economic, and sexual from members of their family. 35% have thought of committed suicide or harm themselves due to their SOGIE. Both pieces of research are evidence of the need for awareness-raising to increase more acceptance. RoCK believes that positive parenting is one of the key focuses to raise awareness of how a family could raise and nurture children where they could fully and safely express themselves, regardless of their diverse SOGIESC. It’s essential to understand parents. All in all, we anticipate the start of family culture and environment for healthy and positive conversation and communication.

This project has the support of JASS Association, TPO Cambodia, and inputs on production from the Department of Social Work of the Royal University of Phnom Penh.
